Miracles are for sharing.

God's has universal perspective.  His ways and plans are higher than our own.  Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to to take.

God's perspective is so big, so universal.  He can see the whole picture, while we are only able to see a tiny portion of it.  It is sometimes difficult for us to see how things work together.  It is often through hindsight that we see God's fingerprints and footsteps at work in our world.

This was especially true when we found out that Christopher had to wait a few more months to get his feeding tubes out.  We were originally told that he only needed to wait 3 months, but after a visit with the surgeon we were told that it would be prudent to wait 6 months.  It wasn't the news we wanted to hear, but we knew that it was a good idea to take the surgeon's advice on this one.  What's three more months anyway after you've waited 17 years?!

As it turned out, having to wait a few more months was part of God's plan.  It was definitely a "God thing".  When God performs a miracle, it is for His glory.  A miracle is the manifestation of His awesome glory and healing power.  It isn't supposed to happen in secret in some dark church basement somewhere.  Miracles are for sharing.  Miracles are God's message to a world in need that He lives, loves, and heals.  When you are blessed with a miracle, sharing the news of what God has done for you is your gift back to Him.

That is why I decided to write about Christopher's life and healing.  I wanted to get the word out to as many souls as possible about the wonder of God's healing grace.  The world is full of bad news, and it is in desperate need to learn that God is in control. He cares about each individual person, and He wants to invite each of us into a personal relationship with Him.

God has provided countless opportunities for us to share the news about how He healed Christopher.  We, of course, shared the news right away with our family, friends, and co-workers.  News of the miracle spread quickly from person to person, and it wasn't long before we were asked to share the good news at church too.  On November 27, 2011 Christopher and I spoke at the church where he had been healed, and on January 8, 2012 Christopher spoke at the youth chapel at the church we regularly attend.  Both were huge opportunities to let other people know about the work that God had done in Christopher.

God has also provided moments for us to share the story when we least expect it.  On more than one occassion I thought I was just stopping by the store to buy some banans, when I suddenly found myself sharing God's miracle with a curious soul.  This has happened to me at all kinds of places like the dentist office, the beauty salon, restaurants, and even the gym.  God just seems to put people in my path that need to hear the good news.

He puts people in Christopher's path too.  One day I thought we were just going to the gym to work out.  I had finished my workout on the stationary bike and treadmill.  I was doing laps in the pool when I saw Christopher walk into the pool area.  I noticed the usual stares from onlookers as he made his way to the hot tub.  I continued to swim, and then I noticed that Christopher was sitting on the side of the hot tub.  I couldn't hear what he was saying, but I could see that all eyes were on him.  I could see that he was pointing to his tubes.  People were asking questions, and he was telling them his story.

A billboard for God's miracle healing!
It suddenly dawned on me that I was witnessing why God had wanted Christopher to wait another few months to get his tubes out.  With his feeding tubes on full display, he was a walking billboard for God's miracle!  Christopher hasn't wasted any opportunity to share his story at the gym.  He has told it in the weight room, the steam room, the sauna, and the pool.  Many people have learned about God's healing all because Christopher had to wait just a little bit longer.

God's plans are always best!  His footsteps and fingerprints can be seen on the souls of those who learn about His healing power.  We are thankful for the miracle that He did, and we are happy to have the chance to share it with as many people as possible!

More tomorrow...

Special Note:  Do you know someone who needs to know that God is still in the miracle business?  My guess is that you do.  Please feel free to share this story.  Please e-mail, call, tweet, or use facebook.  Everyone needs to know about God's loving grace.

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can pray like this:
